Mount Vernon is in Skagit County, Washington and is home to the annual Skagit Valley Tulip Festival that happens each year in April. The beautiful tulip, daffodil, & iris fields draw thousands of people into Skagit County each year.

The city of Mount Vernon, Washington is along the Interstate 5 corridor about an hour South of Vancouver, British Columbia and about an hour North of Seattle. State Highway 20 is just North of Mount Vernon (in Burlington). State Highway 20 goes West toward Oak Harbor, Anacortes, the San Juan Islands, and Victoria/Sidney British Columbia (by ferry). State Highway 20 also goes East through Sedro Woolley and the Cascade Mountains (on the Cascade Loop).

Mount Vernon is a great place to live. There is a great variety of housing available, from turn of the century farm houses and cottages to brand new developments at Nookachamp Hills, Cedar Heights, Skagit Highlands and Luxury Homes at the Eaglemont Golf Course and more.

The Mount Vernon School District serves over 5,700 students attending 10 schools from grades Kindergarten through 12. Mount Vernon is also the home of Skagit Valley College, which recently earned national reconition for being one of the best community colleges in the nation!

There’s lots to see and do. Mount Vernon is most famous for it’s annual Skagit Valley Tulip Festival that happens each year in April. The beautiful tulip, daffodil, & iris fields draw thousands of people into Skagit County each year.

There’s also loads of scenery, several murals and, of course the Tulip Smokestack. Don’t miss the historic Lincoln Theatre or the Children’s Museum

There are plenty of other things in and around Mount Vernon as well. The Skagit Speedway in Alger offers dirt track racing all summer long. There are several wineries in the area. Heading West, out toward the beautiful San Juan Islands, you can do some whale watching. Skagit County is a great place to visit and a fantastic place to call home!
